RADFORD, VA. - The UNC Asheville volleyball team returns to Big South Conference play this weekend as the Bulldogs head to Radford on Friday and High Point on Saturday to play their first road league matches of the year.

Ashville plays the Highlanders Friday night at 7 p.m. and High Point on Saturday at 4 p.m. Both games will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at www.uncabulldogs.com.

The Bulldogs (9-6, 2-0 BSC) bring a five-game winning streak into Friday's action at Radford. Asheville opened Big South play last week at home with two impressive victories, including a five-set triumph over defending champion Coastal Carolina Saturday afternoon.

"We've done a nice job improving from the start of the season until now," explained Bulldog coach Julie Torbett. "However, we still have to keep getting better and better. This is a tough weekend with two road matches against good teams on the road. We're going to have to play well to have any chance of winning on either Friday or Saturday."

The Highlanders finished in eighth place in the league standings last season, but Radford (6-10, 0-2 BSC) is very much improved this season.

"Radford has posted some impressive non-conference wins this year and is definitely improved from last season," stated Torbett. "It is never easy to win up there, and we had a tough time winning up there last year."

High Point is 7-10 overall and 2-1 in league play. The Panthers have also earned some impressive non-conference victories and opened league play with road wins at Winthrop and Charleston Southern.

"I'm very impressed with High Point," declared Torbett. "They have a talented team that plays hard all the time. High Point is another tough place to play, as well."
