Men's Soccer Slips Past Lipscomb 2-1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - UNC Asheville built a 2-0 lead and then got great goalkeeping from Lassi Hurskainen as the Bulldogs edged Lipscomb 2-1 in the opening game of the Hyatt Place Select Tournament at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex Friday night.
Asheville (2-4-1) got goals from Connor Holzinger and Bryan Bartels to lead 2-0.
The Bison (2-3-1) were able to get on the board in the 72nd minute on a goal by Garrett Pettis to cut the lead to 2-1.
Hurskainen was superb for the Bulldogs. He stopped 15 Lipscomb shots as the home team out-shot Asheville 36-10 on the night.
Holzinger opened the scoring at 18:04 of the first half for Asheville on a penalty kick. It was the sophomore's first goal of the season.
The Bulldogs made it 2-0 at the 64:02 mark when Bartels tallied his first goal of the season. Freshman forward Zachary Odum was awarded an assist on the goal.
Asheville will play Belmont on Sunday at Noon CST in the final game of the tournament.
