ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's cross country teams will be in action this Saturday morning at the Big South Preview that will be held at Shady Oaks in Winston-Salem. The meet will start at 10 a.m.

The meet will feature most of the teams in the Big South Conference as they get a chance to run on the course that they will run during the Big South Conference championship meet on Oct. 31. The 8,000-meter men's course and 5,000-meter women's course are located at Shady Oaks at 4000 High Point Road in Winston-Salem. It is primarily a 2,000-meter loop that the runners will cover multiple times, making it a very spectator-friendly course.

The teams in the meet are Gardner-Webb, High Point, Liberty, Radford, VMI and UNC Asheville.

Third-year coach Jesse Norman should have his full team ready to run on Saturday.

"I'm very anxious to see how we perform on Saturday," commented Norman. "It will be good to see where we stand in the Big South Conference as this point of the season."

The Bulldogs have participated in one meet this year and that was at the Western Carolina Invitational two weeks ago (Sept. 4). Norman did not bring his full squad to the four-team meet but Asheville had some good results.

On the men's side, sophomore Eliud Chirchir finished in fourth place to highlight the Bulldogs performance at WCU. Chirchir had a time of 16:19 in the 5K race and helped Asheville finish in third place in the meet.

On the women's side, Asheville finished in fourth place with 101 points. Freshman Alyska Kalmeijer led the Bulldogs as she came in 14th place with a time of 12:23 over the two-mile course.
