ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's soccer team plays an exhibition game this afternoon when the Bulldogs host Catawba College at Greenwood Field starting at 4 p.m. Admission is free.

This will be the only exhibition match that Asheville plays as it gears up for the 2009 season. The Bulldogs open the regular season at national power UNC Chapel Hill on Sept. 1.

"Our lads are looking forward to play a match, and Catawba should be a good test," commented Asheville head coach Steve Cornish. "We've trained hard in the pre-season as everybody came back in good shape."

One newcomer for Asheville should be able to give the Bulldogs a pretty good scouting report on the Indians. Sophomore forward Alex Koslick was Catawba's leading scorer last season with three goals and nine points before joining the Asheville program this year.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lassi Hurskainen should get the nod for the Bulldogs in goal. He played every minute of every match last season.

Asheville's home opener is on Sept. 4 against Brevard College at Greenwood Field starting at 4 p.m.
