02.13.2009 | Track and Field

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's Indoor Track and Field teams compete again on Friday at the Dick Taylor Invitational at UNC Chapel Hill. This is the final meet before the Bulldogs compete at the Big South Conference Championships in two weeks (Feb. 27-28).

Second-year coach Jesse Norman has seen a great deal of improvement with both teams this year. Norman sees the meet at Chapel Hill as another step to get ready for the Big South championships.

“We want to continue to improve each meet and be peaking at the Big South,” commented Norman. “I like the progress we're making and that needs to continue this week in Chapel Hill.”

Both Bulldog teams face stiff challenges on Friday.

“The Dick Taylor Invitational is a strong meet with good teams and great competition,” stated Norman. “We're going to have to compete at a high level to have good results.”

Junior sprinter Natalie Pearson has been running at a high level all year. She's posted three wins during the season and was named Big South Runner of the Week on Jan. 29 after winning the 60 and 400 meters at the Liberty Invitational.
