Men's Soccer to Face Liberty in Big South Tournament Opener

The Bulldogs just played the Flames on Saturday and fell 2-1 as Liberty scored twice in the second half to rally for the victory.
Asheville (6-11-2, 2-4-1 BSC) will try to snap a five-game losing streak in the match against Liberty. The Bulldogs will also be gunning for their first tournament victory over the Flames. Liberty has defeated Asheville in three previous tournament matches. The last time the played was in the quarterfinals of the 2007 tournament when the seventh-seeded Bulldogs led 1-0 over the second-seeded Flames but Liberty scored twice in the final 10 minutes to win the match. The Flames went on the win the Big South Tournament.
"Well we certainly know a great deal about opponent on Thursday," commented Asheville coach Steve Cornish. "It will be interesting to face a team that you just played yesterday. We hope it works to our advantage. However, Liberty is a formidable opponent, and we'll have to work very hard for a result on Thursday."
