ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's soccer team plays the final match of a demanding four-game road trip at Big South foe Gardner-Webb Wednesday night starting at 7 p.m. The match can be seen via video-streaming for a small fee at www.bigsouthsports.com.

The Bulldogs (6-7-2, 2-2-1 BSC) have gone 2-1-0 in those three road matches but are coming off a tough 3-1 loss at Big South-leader Winthrop Saturday night.

Asheville faces another tough foe in Gardner-Webb. The Runnin' Bulldogs have a 7-5-1 overall record and 3-3-1 worksheet in Big South Conference matches. They defeated Clemson early in the season and have played very well throughout the year.

"Gardner-Webb presents many challenges for our lads," commented Bulldog coach Steve Cornish. "They are quite tough to defend and are well-coached. We really played some good soccer at Winthrop on Saturday for the majority of the match. We need a similar effort for 90 minutes Wednesday night."

Since starting the season 1-4-1, Asheville has gone 5-3-1. The Bulldogs may have the youngest team in the nation with no juniors and seniors on their roster. Asheville's entire team is made up of freshmen and sophomores.

"We may have been freshmen and sophomores at the start of the season but we're sophomores and juniors now," explained Cornish. "Our lads have done a nice job, and we're only going to get better."

NOTES - The Bulldogs have scored 17 goals as a team with 11 different players scoring a goal...Asheville has scored at least one goal in 10 straight matches after getting shutout in four of the first five matches this season...the Bulldogs have won six matches this year and a different player has gotten the winning goal in each victorious match... the Dogs have not played at home since a 2-2 tie against Presbyterian on Oct. 6.
