ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's soccer team will look for its third straight Big South Conference road victory Saturday night when the Bulldogs travel to defending conference champion Winthrop for a 7 p.m. match at Eagle Field. The match can be seen via video-streaming for a small fee at www.bigsouthsports.com.

The Bulldogs (6-6-2, 2-1-1 BSC) are 5-2-1 in their last eight matches and are coming off road wins at Radford (1-0) and VMI (2-1) on the last two Saturday's. However, Asheville coach Steve Cornish knows the Bulldogs have a very tough test in front of them with the Eagles. Winthrop is 9-2-2 overall and in first place in the Big South with a 3-0-2 league mark. They are ranked ninth in the South Region.

"Winthrop was quite good last year when they won the Big South Conference championship," admitted Cornish. "I believe they may be even better this season. Winthrop is quite fast and extremely tough to defend. Our lads have played well the past few weeks, but we must be ready to take our level of play even higher to compete on Saturday against Winthrop."

The Bulldogs stunned Winthrop last season at Greenwood Field, 1-0. It was the Eagles last loss in the regular season before advancing to the NCAA Tournament. The victory by Asheville was its first regular-season victory over the Eagles since the 1997
