Asheville has won six straight and is perfect in Big South Conference play with a 6-0 league mark. The Bulldogs (17-5) have won nine of their last 10 matches and are in first place all alone in the Big South.
The Bulldogs moved into first place last weekend at home with wins over High Point and defending conference champion Liberty. Asheville downed the Panthers in three sets Friday and then downed Liberty on Saturday in four sets.
We had a great weekend last week but there's another challenge in front of us this weekend," added Torbett.
However, this weekend brings a pair of real challenges for Julie Torbett's team.
Winthrop has a 13-6 overall record and is 5-1 in league play. The Eagles have bounced back from a tough start and won 10 of their last 11 matches. Coastal Carolina is 10-9 overall but 4-2 in league play. The Chanticleers were the only Big South team to beat the Bulldogs twice last year.
"We've got our work cut out for us this weekend," commented Torbett. "Winthrop is playing quite well and it's always tough to win there. Coastal Carolina has a very good team returning from last season.
