Indoor Track and Field Teams Open Season at Appalachian

01.16.2009 | Track and Field

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's Indoor Track and Field squads open the 2009 season at the Appalachian Open Saturday morning at the Holmes Center on the campus of Appalachian State. Both teams will have their full rosters performing at the meet.

Second-year coach Jesse Norman is looking forward to see how his teams perform in the first meet of the year.

“We're very excited to get the season going Saturday,” stated Norman. “It will be the debut of our track and field performers and anxious to see how everyone does. We're also anxious to see how our distance runners do after cross country season. I think this meet will tell us how we're doing and where we need to improve.”

Some Bulldogs to watch out for on Saturday include junior sprinter Natalie Pearson on the women's side. Pearson holds many of UNC Asheville's sprint records but was slowed last year by an injury. She should be ready to go this weekend.

On the men's side, senior Dane Corriher will lead the Bulldog sprinters. Corriher had a solid junior campaign and should be ready to have a great season season.
