ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville volleyball team is back in action today and Saturday when the Bulldogs participate in the USC Upstate Classic in Spartanburg.

UNC Asheville plays one match on Friday when the Bulldogs take on Hampton of the MEAC starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Julie Torbett's club faces Wofford at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and battles USC Upstate at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs went 1-2 last weekend with an impressive 3-2 victory over Florida Gulf Coast and losses to Elon and Maine during the North Carolina Central Tournament.

“We got better as the weekend went on,” commented Torbett. “We still have plenty of work to do before conference play but last weekend I liked the way we competed.”

Torbett expects some tough matches at USC Upstate.

“We haven't played Hampton in quite some time but know they'll play hard,” admitted Torbett. “Wofford always plays us tough and we had two close matches with USC Upstate last year.”
