ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's soccer team returns home on Saturday to face the University of Kentucky at Greenwood Field starting at 2 p.m. Admission to the match is free. The match can be seen via video-streaming for a small fee at www.bigsouthsports.com or www.uncabulldogs.com.

The Bulldogs (2-3-1) have won two of their last three matches and started to score goals after getting shutout in the first two games of the season. Asheville posted 3-2 victories over Longwood and Belmont before falling to Lipscomb last Sunday, 3-1.

“We're starting to come alive on offense,” commented Bulldog coach Steve Cornish. “Our newcomers are working well with our returnees. We're getting good balance and at times our lads are a bit dangerous going forward.”

One of those newcomers, Bryan George, was named Big South Player of the Week on Monday. The rookie midfielder scored two goals and had an assist last week. He scored the game-winner against Belmont.

Asheville faces a stiff challenge against Kentucky. The Wildcats beat the Bulldogs last year, 3-0 in Lexington. UK is 4-2-1 on the season and is unbeaten in its last three matches. The Wildcats won at Cincinnati 4-1, edged Michigan 2-1 before tying Alabama A&M 0-0 Sunday afternoon. Kentucky has scored 18 goals in seven matches this year.

Kentucky will be a handful,” stated Cornish. “They have a strong team and are good in all areas of the game. We're going to have to be at our best to have a chance at getting a result on Saturday.”
