ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's soccer team looks to get its first victory of the season Tuesday afternoon when the Bulldogs host a dangerous Longwood club at Greenwood Field starting at 4 p.m. Admission is free. The match will be video-streamed for a small fee at www.uncabulldogs.com.

UNC Asheville played last weekend at the Elon Invitational and did get a point out of its two matches. The Bulldogs dropped a heart-breaking 1-0 defeat in overtime to Elon on Friday night and then tied UNC Greensboro on Sunday, 1-1. Asheville's Caleb Alexander scored the first goal of the season for the Bulldogs in that match before the Spartans got the equalizer with six minutes left.

“We played fairly well in both of our matches this weekend but we need to score a few more goals,” stated Cornish. “We had chances in both matches. However, our effort was excellent and if we can just finish a little better then I think we have a chance at getting some good results.”

The Bulldogs expect a tough match with Longwood. The Lancers are 2-2-1 on the season and own a victory over Coastal Carolina.

“Longwood has had some fine results in the early part of the year,” declared Cornish. “We're certainly going to have to play well to win.”
