ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Charlotte for Saturday's Bojangles' Invitional on the campus of UNC Charlotte.

The Bulldogs will compete for the team title against runners from Charlotte, East Tennessee State, Johnson C. Smith, Lenoir-Rhyne, Livingstone, Montreat, Saint Joseph's, fellow Big South member Winthrop, and Xavier.

The men's and women's sides both had strong finishes in the first meet of the season at Western Carolina.

The men finished just three points behind winners Western Carolina and the women came in third place.

On Saturday, the men will compete in an 8-kilometer race and the women will run a 5-kilometer race.

Head coach Jesse Norman thinks that his runners will have strong finishes on Saturday that will help them in the season's later races.

“I want to see how many teams we can beat,” said Norman.  “I also want to see how close we can be to Winthrop because they're in the Big South with us.  Each meet we are running this year is a little bigger than the previous one, so it will be a good way for us to get everyone ready for the bigger meets later on in the season.”

The races will start at the intramural fields on the UNC Charlotte campus and finish on the track inside the Belk Track and Field Center.

The men's 8K will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the women's 5K will commence at approximately 8:40 a.m.
