ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? UNC Asheville head volleyball coach Julie Torbett is pleased to announce the hiring of former Bulldog player Talia Ogle as an assistant coach pending the approval of the UNC Asheville Board of Trustees.  She will replace Frederico Santos who left in July to take the head coaching position at Barry University in Florida.

She joins UNC Asheville after serving as an assistant at Western Carolina this past summer and at the University of Texas Pan American. She spent one year at UTPA where her primary responsibilities was working with the outside hitters and defensive specialists. She also served as the academic advisor, camp director and travel coordinator.

“I am very happy to have Talia Ogle back with us at UNC Asheville,” stated Torbett. “We had some great success when Talia was playing for us, and she was a big reason why. Talia has gotten some great experience in coaching the past year and confident she'll do a great job for our program.”

Ogle was a three-year letter-winner for the Bulldog program from 2003-05. She played on two teams that advanced to the Big South Conference championship game in 2003 and 2005. Ogle was a three-year starter for UNC Asheville and in her senior year helped lead the Bulldogs to a 25-7 overall record, the third best mark in school history.

Her coaching career began as a student assistant with the UNC Asheville program in 2006 and she helped guide a young Bulldog team to another Big South title game. Ogle graduated in December of 2006 with a bachelor's degree in English.
