ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's soccer team is seeded sixth for the 2008 Big South Conference soccer tournament that will be held at Coastal Carolina Nov. 13-16. The Bulldogs will take on third-seeded Gardner-Webb on Thursday starting at 5 p.m.
UNC Asheville finished the overall season with a 6-7-4 overall record and went 3-3-1 in league play. The Bulldogs played their best soccer at the end of the season as they went 2-0-2 over the last four matches and allowed just two goals in those matches.
Gardner-Webb is in its first year of play in the Big South and went 5-3-0 in league action. The teams played on Oct. 15 at Greenwood Field with Gardner-Webb winning, 2-1.
"We'll need to be at our absolute best to get a result against Gardner-Webb," explained Asheville coach Steve Cornish. "We're playing some good football right now and hopefully that will continue this weekend."
