ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The resurgent UNC Asheville volleyball team is home this weekend for two important Big South Conference matches. The Bulldogs host league-leader Liberty on Friday night at Justice Center starting at 7 p.m. On Saturday, they entertain Radford at 2 p.m. Both matches will be video-streamed by The Edge at www.bigsouthsports.com for a small fee.

Julie Torbett's team has won five of its last six matches and improved its overall record to 13-11 and 5-6 in league play.  UNC Asheville has moved into fifth place in league play and hopes to move up even more in the final two weeks of BSC play. The Bulldogs won their third straight match on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory over Gardner-Webb.

“We're playing better but we need to keep improving before we get to the Big South Conference Tournament,” stated Torbett. “This is a big weekend for us. Liberty is very talented and leads the Big South Conference. Radford has a solid team, as well. Both of them beat us pretty good when we played last month.”

Liberty is 20-6 on the season and 11-1 in BSC action. Radford has a 9-15 overall worksheet and 4-9 league record.

The Bulldogs are being led this year by Kelsey Benorden. The sophomore outside hitter leads the Big South in double-doubles with 14.
