ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The resurgent UNC Asheville volleyball team is back in action this Tuesday night at Justice Center when the Bulldogs host Gardner-Webb in a key Big South Conference match. The match will be video-streamed for a small fee at www.bigsouthsports.com

UNC Asheville (12-11, 4-6 BSC) won for the fourth time in the last five matches with a thrilling five-set win over Winthrop Saturday afternoon at Justice Center. The Bulldogs defeated the Eagles for the first time since the 2002 season. Asheville trailed 2-1 in sets but stormed back to win the match. Three of the Bulldogs last four wins have come in five games and each time Asheville has rallied to produce the victory.

"I'm really proud of how we have battled back to win our last few matches," stated Asheville coach Julie Torbett. "We have played a lot of five-game matches this year, and we've grown comfortable playing in them. Our team has learned how to win tough matches over the past few weeks and hopefully we can keep getting better."

Asheville's resurgence actually started with a win at Gardner-Webb on Oct. 14. The Bulldogs won 3-1 and snapped a five-game losing streak. Gardner-Webb is struggling a little bit this year but Torbett expects a tough match on Tuesday.

"Gardner-Webb is well-coached and knows how to play," admitted Torbett. "They have played some very good volleyball recently and will be ready to play on Tuesday night."

Freshman Cindi Miller had a great match against Winthrop with a season-high 20 kills. Kelsey Benorden recorded her league-leading 13th double-double of the year with 15 kills and 22 digs.
