Bulldog Volleyball Opens 2009 Season at Tournament at North Carolina Central

Benorden Makes All-Tournament Team.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Benorden earned a spot on the Big South All-Tournament team that was announced at the conclusion of the tourney held at Justice Center on Sunday. Top-seeded Liberty won the title by slipping past second-seeded Coastal Carolina 3-1.

Benorden, who was a first team all-conference selection this year, enjoyed an excellent tournament. She helped lead the Bulldogs to a 3-1 win over Winthrop in the quarterfinals on Friday night with 16 kills, seven digs and four blocks. On Saturday against Liberty, the Knoxville native registered a double-double with 13 kills, 11 digs and four blocks.

The Bulldogs finish the season on Tuesday night against Wofford at Justice Center starting at 7 p.m.
