ASHEVILLE, N.C.?UNC Asheville freshman outside hitter Cindi Miller was named the Big South New Balance Freshman of the Week for the second-straight week as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Miller, a middle blocker from Decatur, Ind., registered 36 kills, three blocks and 13 digs in three matches for the Bulldogs last week. She posted two double-digit kill matches as she posted 13 kills in Asheville's win over Presbyterian on Nov. 11 and 15 kills against Charleston Southern on Nov. 15. She also averaged 2.77 kills per set to pick up her third Freshman of the Week plaudit this season.
Charleston Southern's Amanda Hill has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Player of the Week and Coastal Carolina's Brett Starbuck picked up Libero of the Week honors for matches played Nov. 10-16.
The Big South Championships will be held in Asheville Friday through Sunday of this week. Quarterfinal play begins on Friday at Noon as #2 seed High Point faces #7 seed Radford. #3 Seed Coastal Carolina plays #6 seed Charleston Southern at 2:30 p.m. Top seed Liberty faces #8 seed Gardner-Webb at 5 p.m. and host and #4 seed UNC Asheville plays #5 seed Winthrop at 7:30 p.m.
