ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville volleyball teams finally gets a chance to play some home matches when the Bulldogs host Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina this weekend.

The Bulldogs take on CSU Friday night at Justice Center with the match starting at 6 p.m. Friday's match will also be Jammin' at the Justice as the men's and women's basketball teams will be introduced following the volleyball game. Fans can get into both events by donating a canned food to MANNA Food Bank.

On Saturday, UNC Asheville battles Coastal Carolina at Justice Center starting at 2 p.m. The match will be the Bulldogs' Dig Pink event. DIG PINK is a National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally during the month of October with the mission to increase the awareness of breast cancer throughout the community and raise funds to help eradicate the disease.

UNC Asheville is partnering with the Side-Out Foundation, a national breast cancer organization located in Washington D.C. Over 760 teams, both high school and college, are participating in DIG PINK throughout the month of October.

This is the second year that the Bulldogs have hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness match and the first time they have partnered with the Side-Out Foundation. Last season, Asheville wore pink socks as a part of its uniform for back-to-back matches against Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina.

This year the Bulldogs will once again wear pink as a part of the uniform. All attendees to the match are encouraged to wear pink in support of the fight against breast cancer.

Asheville (9-10, 1-5 BSC) ended a frustrating five-game losing streak with an impressive victory against Gardner-Webb Tuesday night on the road.

“Our block was the difference in the match,” said Asheville Head Coach Julie Torbett. “We made one adjustment to our line-up, we went back to what we were doing three weeks ago, and our block took over in the last sets. It is nice to get a win and hopefully this will get us back on track.”
