ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's soccer team opens Big South Conference play Saturday afternoon against High Point at Greenwood Field starting at 2 p.m. Admission is free.

The game will be video-streamed over the Big South Conference's web-site at www.bigsouthsports.com for a small fee. The match will also be televised on AETV (Channel 16) on a tape-delay basis Saturday night at 9 p.m. It will be broadcast throughout next week at 9 p.m. each day.

The Bulldogs (1-4-1) host a Panther team (2-6-1, 0-1-0 BSC) that is playing some pretty good soccer overthe past two weeks. High Point has won two of its last three matches and battled defending Big South champ Winthrop Wednesday night before falling, 2-1. The Panthers are under the direction of first year coach Dustin Fonder.

High Point has played quite well recently after struggling with a tough schedule in the first part of the season,” stated UNC Asheville coach Steve Cornish. “We will need to play a complete 90 minutes if we hope to get a result Saturday.”

Asheville tied Presbyterian, 3-3 at Greenwood Field Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs trailed 3-1 at halftime before getting two goals from Scott Szymanski to knot the match at 3-3.

“We did a great job coming back but we put ourselves into a big hole allowing three goals in the first half,” declared Cornish. “Our lads must come out stronger against High Point than we did Tuesday against Presbyterian.”

Junior forward Scott Szymanski is enjoying a great season for the Bulldogs in the first part of the year. He is Asheville's leading goal scorer with four goals and 10 points. The Bulldogs have scored eight goals in 2007 and Szymanski has been a part of six of those goals.

UNC Asheville continues its homestand Wednesday afternoon when the Bulldogs host Big South Conference foe Coastal Carolina starting at 4 p.m.
