Men's Soccer Hosts Presbyterian Tuesday Afternoon

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's soccer team looks to get in the win column Tuesday afternoon when the Bulldogs host future Big South Conference member Presbyterian Tuesday afternoon at Greenwood Field starting at 4 p.m. Admission is free.

The match can be seen via video-streamed on www.bigsouthsports.com for a small fee.

Both teams really need a win on Tuesday. UNC Asheville (1-4) has dropped four straight and lost a heartbreaking 2-1 double overtime decision to Campbell Saturday afternoon at Greenwood Field. The Bulldogs out shot the regionally-ranked Camels, 14-5 in regulation but just could not break through for the go-ahead score. Campbell ended up winning the match on a goal two minutes into the second overtime period.

Presbyterian is 1-7 on the season as the Blue Hose program is playing its first ever Division I schedule. However, PC has been in just about every match it has played, losing 1-0 to Charlotte this past weekend.

“Presbyterian was a good team in Division II and they'll be fine in Division I,” stated UNC Asheville coach Steve Cornish. “They have faced a very demanding schedule but have played well in most of their matches only to fall a goal short. Our lads must put together a solid effort to get a result on Tuesday.”

Cornish is hoping the effort against Campbell will get the Bulldogs going in a positive direction.

Campbell is an excellent team and to play as well as we did and not even get a tie is most frustrating,” explained Cornish. “However, we need to build on this match. We played some very good football on Saturday and need to keep that up as we get ready for conference play.”

The Bulldogs open Big South Conference play this Saturday afternoon at Greenwood Field against High Point starting at 2 p.m.
