Cross Country Finishes in 6th & 7th at Big South

The Bulldog women took sixth place with 146 points, just missing fifth place held down by VMI at 143 points.
On the men's side,
The women's team was led by senior Emily Mase who ran a personal best of
Sophomore Katie Olert ran a great race and finished in 33rd at a time of
“We had great effort from our women's team this morning,” stated UNC Asheville coach Jesse Norman. “Several of our runners set personal bests today on a tough course. We were a break or two away from finishing in fourth place.”
The men's team was led by junior Andrew Burnette. Burnette finished the 8K course in a time of 27:34 and finished 25th. Junior Adam Matthews finished 35th with a time of 28:30. Senior Joel Quirk took 46th at 30:13. Freshman Jay Barringer finished in 48th with a time of 30:36.
Sophomore Matt Holman came in 51st at 32:19. Freshman Robert Abrahamson rounded out the
“Our men ran hard today, just like they have all year long,” said
UNC Asheville had two runners earn a spot on the Big South All-Academic team as Emily Mase made the women's squad, while Joel Quirk was placed on the men's squad. It marked the fourth time that both Mase and Quirk have been honored in their career being place on a Big South All-Academic team,
Both teams will finish up the 2007 season at the NCAA Regional at
