ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's soccer team returns to the field Thursday afternoon when the Bulldogs host Big South Conference rival Liberty at Greenwood Field starting at 4 p.m. Admission is free.

The match will be video-streamed weather-permitting (rain is predicted for the Asheville area during game) for a small fee by www.bigsouthsports.com or www.uncabulldogs.com. A decision about video-streaming the match will be made just prior to the match.

UNC Asheville (2-9-1, 0-4-0 BSC) is looking for its first league win of the season and trying to break a two-game losing streak. The Bulldogs won the last time they played at Greenwood Field last Tuesday when they shocked Clemson, 2-1 in double overtime. Asheville fell at Radford, 2-0 last Saturday and at Wofford Monday night, 1-0.

Things do not get easier on Thursday against Liberty. The Flames are 7-3-2 on the season and 2-1-0 in league play.

“The Big South Conference is very balanced this year with plenty of high-quality teams,” commented Bulldog head coach Steve Cornish. “Liberty is another excellent team in our league and has posted some fine results.”

Cornish hopes Asheville can build on the success it had last week against Clemson.

“The Clemson victory was wonderful but we've got to build on that victory,” admitted Cornish. “We played with a great deal of passion and desire. We need that in every match. Our lads battled hard at Radford and Wofford but we've got to find ways to score when we have opportunities.”
