UNC Asheville Men's Soccer Announces Captains for 2007 Season

BSC Edges Asheville, 1-0 in Men's Soccer

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - A first-half goal by Robert Geil gave Birmingham-Southern all it needed en route to a 1-0 win over UNCA Asheville in men's soccer action at the BSC Soccer Park Saturday

The Panthers improved to 6-9-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the Big South Conference. Asheville fell to 6-12-0 and 2-5-0 in league play.

BSC's goal came in the 29th minute. A Stefan Haben deflected off the left post and Geil put home the rebound for the only goal of the contest. It was Geil's third goal of the season while Haben picked up his third assist.

Joseph Anthony notched four saves in goal for BSC while Phillip Horner had seven for the Bulldogs.Nathan Neal led the visitors with three shots, while Barrett Locke added two.

Asheville plays next in the quarterfinals of the Big South Conference soccer tournament at Radford. The Bulldogs will be the #7 seed in the tourney and take on second-seeded Coastal Carolina Thursday afternoon starting at 5 p.m.
