CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's soccer team will be the seventh seed for the 2006 Big South Conference Tournament to be held at Radford, Nov. 2-5. The Bulldogs face five-time defending champion Coastal Carolina Thursday afternoon starting at 5 p.m.

Asheville enters the tournament with a 5-12-0 overall record and finished 2-5-0 in the BSC. The Bulldogs lost seven matches this season by just one goal. One of those losses came against the Chanticleers on Sept. 26 when Asheville dropped a 1-0 decision in Conway, S.C.

"We're much improved from last year but we still have to find a way to finish out matches," stated Asheville coach Steve Cornish. "We didn't play very well at Coastal Carolina earlier this season and hopefully we'll play much better on Thursday. We're going to have to because Coastal Carolina is an excellent team."

The Chanticleers have won three straight vs. Asheville and all have been by 1-0 scores. The Bulldogs are 1-3 vs. CCU in tournament play with Asheville winning in 1999 on penalty kicks. The Chanticleers edged Asheville, 1-0 in the semifinals of the 2004 tourney.
