Harmon Takes First in the Mile at Liberty

Mase and Harmon Earn All-Conference CC Honors

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. - Emily Mase ran a personal record 18:28 to finish ninth and help the UNC Asheville women to a fourth place finish at the Big South Cross Country Championships. Jonathan Harmon ran 25:34 to finish 10th in the men's race on Saturday morning.

The women's race was won by Coastal Carolina's Julia Viellehner. Liberty won the women's title with 29 points, followed by Coastal Carolina with 34 and High Point with 67. UNC Asheville was fourth with 122 points, edging Winthrop who posted 125 points. In sixth was Birmingham-Southern with 171 points and in seventh was Radford with 196 points. VMI (201) and Charleston Southern (261) rounded out the list for the women.

Liberty took the top three spots in the men's race with Josh McDougal (24:46.4), Jarvis Jelan (24:46.7) and Jordan McDougal (24:46.9). The Flames posted 32 points, followed by Coastal Carolina (57), High Point (62), VMI (113), Radford (128), Winthrop (137), Birmingham-Southern (159), UNC Asheville (202) and Charleston Southern (290).

Mase also earned Big South All-Academic team honors while Joel Quick as named All-Academic on the men's side.
