ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Despite Kaitlyn McDaniel's first career triple-double and career tying numbers by Lauren Ficker and Emily Palma UNC Asheville fell in four games 25-30, 30-26, 30-28, 30-25 to visiting Gardner-Webb on Tuesday night.

Gardner-Webb (13-17) was led by a match-high 29 kills from Ashley Pridgeon who added 10 digs and two blocks. Audra Harrison had 14 kills and Bethany Martin added 13 kills for the visitors. GWU had four players with double-figure digs led by Katie Matykowski's 28. Regina Feagin had 14 digs and Megan Eden contributed 10 digs.

McDaniel had a career-high 14 kills, 50 assists, and 13 digs for the first triple double by a UNC Asheville (12-17) player this season. Ficker tied her career high with 17 kills matching the 17 she had against Duquesne on Aug. 26. Palma's 10 kills tied her career-high set against High Point and at Charleston Southern. Ashley Wrightenberry had 13 kills and Alysha Greer added 10 kills for the Bulldogs who were without All-American Elif Unlu for the match.

Asheville hit .333 as a team in game one finding the middle of the court open repeatedly. The Bulldogs never trailed in the opener and led 29-20. GWU had a five point run to close the score and build momentum before McDaniel finished the game winning a joust with the GWU middle on a tight pass.

In the second game, GWU used a strong block and a good sideout game to win 30-26 and go into the intermission tied at a game a piece. Game three was tight the entire way. The two teams were tied 21 times in game three before Harrison and Martin had back-to-back kills to give GWU the 30-28 win. GWU hit .370 and sided out 75 percent of the time in the game.

Gardner-Webb continued its strong hitting in game four hitting .409. The visiting Bulldogs made just seven errors in the final two games after 14 in the first two.

Asheville had a 21-19 lead in game four before Feagin ran off six straight points to give GWU a 25-21 lead that it would not let go.

Raquel Miotto led Asheville defensively with 17 digs while Shannen Bagge had 15 digs and Brooke Holiday added 10 digs.

Asheville wraps up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 11, at Birmingham-Southern while Gardner-Webb returns home to face North Carolina A&T.
