Elif Unlu Earns Big South Player of the Week Honors - UNC Asheville Bulldogs Official Athletics Site

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville's Elif Unlu was named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Player of the Week, while Kelsey King from Birmingham-Southern was tabbed New Balance Freshman of the Week for matches played through Sept. 6, the League announced on Tuesday.
Unlu, a junior from Izmir, Turkey, led the Bulldogs to a 2-1 week and earned All-Tournament honors as the Bulldogs won the 2005 North Carolina A&T/Terry Labonte Volleyball Classic in Greensboro, N.C. Unlu posted 58 kills, 54 digs, nine blocks, and a .366 hitting percentage over the weekend. She recorded double-doubles in all three matches including a career-best 23 kills and 21 digs against UNC Wilmington. She also had 18 kills, 13 digs against Chattanooga, and 17 kills, 20 digs at N.C. A&T. Unlu averaged 4.46 kills and 4.15 digs in those three matches.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday and Saturday as they compete in the Mercer Invitational in Macon, Ga. UNC Asheville will play Memphis, Louisiana Tech, Florida International, and Mercer.
