UNC Asheville Women's Indoor Track Captures Three Events at ASU - UNC Asheville Bulldogs Official Athletics Site

BOONE, N.C. Emily Mase and Elsa Allstaedt each won events at the Mountaineer Valentine Indoor Track Meet at Appalachian State University Friday evening.
Mase captured the mile run with a time of 5:20. She was followed by junior Kimberly Worlund, who took second place with a time of 5:33. Michelle Ziegler came in 13th place at a time of 5:59.
In the 3000 meters, sophomore Elsa Allstaedt finished in first place with a time of 11:15. Loring Watkins captured third place at a time of 11:36.
The UNC Asheville 4x400 meter relay team won their event with a time of 4:17.
Other highlights included a third place finish from Tiffany Carberry in the 800 meters as she finished with a time of 2:25. Ingrid Allstaedt took fourth place at 2:26. Rebecca Cashion came in ninth place with a time of 2:40, while Elizabeth Duncan came in 13th place with a time of 2:46.
On the men's side, Troy Young took a fifth place finish in the 55-meter dash at a time of 6.66. Ivan Scott came in seventh place with a 6.71 time.
In the 800 meters, Jason Jackson came in fifth place by posting a time of 2:02. Nick Barrier was right behind Jackson in sixth place at 2:04. Sam Roberts took a 10th place finish at 2:09.
In the mile run, Joel Quirk finished in 13th place at a time of 5:02.72, while Nick Christian took 14th place at 5:02.97.
The UNC Asheville Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field teams compete again next week at the Big South Conference championships from Feb. 17-19 at Virginia Tech.
