Both Soccer Teams Honored by NSCAA for Academics

ASHEVILLE, N.C.-The UNC Asheville men’s and women’s soccer teams were recognized Thursday for their outstanding work in the classroom by the NSCAA. Each team was honored as a 2015-2016 College Team Academic Award Winner.
"What an honor to be one of less than 80 NCAA Division I programs to have both our Men's and Women's Soccer teams recognized by the NSCAA as College Team Academic Award Winners,” stated Janet R. Cone, Director of Athletics. “Our student-athletes and coaches are dedicated and committed to maintaining better than a 3.0 GPA and competing at the highest level of sports. I am proud of our Bulldog Soccer Champions and Leaders."
To qualify for this award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding ever player’s GPA and then dividing by the number of players on the roster. The women’s team boasted a 3.38 team GPA while the men’s squad held a 3.16 team GPA.
