2022 Baseball Schedule

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville baseball team unveiled its schedule for the 2022 season presented by Ingles on Friday. This spring, Asheville is scheduled to play 49 games with trips to Virginia Tech, Tennessee, and 19 games at Greenwood Field, highlighting the 2022 slate.

"We are excited to get back on the field with a lot of challenges ahead of us with this year's schedule," said Head Coach Scott Friedholm on his team's 2022 schedule.

Asheville will begin the 2022 season with a three-game set at Virginia Tech on February 18-20. Following those three games in Blacksburg, the Bulldogs will head to Knoxville, Tennessee, on February 23 to take on Tennessee.

The home schedule for the Bulldogs will begin with a three-game series against Niagara on February 25-27. The series opener and finale will be played at Greenwood Field, while the middle contest will be played in Marion, North Carolina.

Following its first home series, Asheville will hit the road for a midweek game at Wofford on March 2 before traveling to Mercer for a three-game set on March 4-6.

The Bulldogs will open their Big South schedule by hosting High Point on March 8 at Greenwood Field before stepping back out of league play for a pair of games against Rider and East Tennessee State in Johnson City, Tennessee, on March 12 and a home midweek contest versus Lafayette on March 15.

As the Bulldogs hit the middle of March, they will hit the bulk of their Big South schedule. Asheville will play series against Big South rivals on four straight weekends, beginning with a three-game set at Longwood on March 18-20. Also, during this stretch, the Bulldogs will travel to Presbyterian (April 1-3) for a series while welcoming in Charleston Southern (March 25-27) and North Carolina A&T (April 8-10) to Asheville.

Asheville will hit the road for its final non-conference series on April 15-16 at Elon before returning to conference series for the remainder of the season. The Bulldogs will make trips to Radford (April 22-24) and USC Upstate (May 13-15) and will host rivals Gardner-Webb (May 6-8) and Winthrop (May 19-21) to close out their league schedule.

Mixed in with the Big South three-game sets that make up the bulk of their schedule, the Bulldogs will play several regional rivalry games in the middle to late stages of the season. Asheville will have home-and-home matchups with Western Carolina (March 22, April 12) and ETSU (April 19, May 10). Wofford is scheduled to visit Asheville on May 4, and the Bulldogs are slated to make short treks to play Appalachian State on March 29 and Charlotte on April 26.

Thanks to the partnership with Ingles, admission to all baseball home games this spring will be free.

If the Bulldogs are among the top six teams in the Big South standings at the conclusion of the regular season, they will take part in the 2022 Ingles Big South Baseball Championship. The Championship will be held at the High Point Rockers' home ballpark of Truist Point in High Point, N.C., on May 25-28. The winner of the six-team double-elimination tournament will be awarded the Big South's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
