Volleyball Notches First Victory over Chattanooga - UNC Asheville Bulldogs Official Athletics Site

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Elif Unlu led four UNC Asheville players in double figures with 18 kills as the Bulldogs defeated Chattanooga 3-1 in the first match of the A&T/Terry LaBonte Classic at the Greensboro Sportsplex on Friday.
Unlu had 18 kills and 13 digs for her first double-double of the season. Allison Lambert added 16 kills and had a .429 (16-4-28) hitting percentage and Ashley Wrightenberry and Talia Ogle each had 10 kills to pace Asheville (1-1) to the 30-25, 26-30, 30-26, 30-27 victory. Ogle added 12 digs for her first double-double of the year and Megan Murphy chipped in a team-high 14 digs.
Chattanooga (0-1) was paced by 20 kills by Lindsey Galloway.and 13 kills from Kari Wiedinger. Lara Newberry had a match-high 20 digs.
In the end, it was the Bulldog's balance that led to the victory. "I thought we played very well tonight," said Asheville head coach Julie Torbett. "We spread the ball around with four players in double figures in kills and two more players with eight kills. I though Amanda Wiles made good decisions and our hitters did a good job of putting the ball away."
Asheville out-hit .the Lady Mocs .257 to .224 on the match. Digs were just about even with UNCA holding a 64-63 advantage and a 9-8 advantage in blocks.
The Bulldogs will play two matches on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. with a match against UNC Wilmington before facing tournament host North Carolina A&T at 3 p.m.
