UNC Asheville Men and Women Finish Fourth; Coleman Earns All-Conference Honors

LYNCHBURG, Va. – It was a special day for UNC Asheville men's and women's cross country at the 2017 Big South Cross Country Championships with both ending their efforts in fourth place as a team at the championships held at the Liberty Cross Country Course.
The UNC Asheville women's cross country team finished fourth at the Big South Conference Cross Country Championship with a team time average of 19:47.
Kelley Coleman led the way for the Bulldogs in the 5K portion of the championship with an All-Conference 11th-place finish with a time of 19:11.8.
The Bulldogs had two in the top-15 with Kamryn DeCarmo collecting a 15th-place finish with a time of 19:18.0. Three Bulldogs finished in the top-20 in total with Phoebe Schneider 20th with a time of 19:32.3.
The UNC Asheville men's cross country team put together a strong finish at the Big South Cross Country Championship with the Bulldogs finishing fourth with a team time average of 26:57.
The Bulldogs were led in the 8K men's portion of the championship by Dominic Collichio, who finished in 15th place with a time of 26:32.6.
Collichio was one of four Bulldogs in the top-25 with Zach Boone also collecting a top-20 finish with an 18th-place finish of 26:39.3.
UNC Asheville's David Hager just missed on a top-20 finish of his own by ending his efforts in 21st with a time of 26:55.9. Quin Meyer collected a 24th-place finish with a time of 27:06.3.
Campbell claimed top honors as a team in the men's portion of the event. Liberty finished second, while Charleston Southern finished third. Campbell's Amon Kemboi won the individual championship with a time of 24:14.7.
In the women's championship, High Point finished first as a team, while Campbell came in second. Liberty finished in third. High Point's Famke Heinst won the individual championship with a time of 17:55.1.

Best Finish Since 2003
The UNC Asheville men's cross country team with its fourth place finish garnered its best finish as a team at the Big South Cross Country Championship since also finishing fourth in 2003.
Top-6 Since 2012
With its fourth place finish as a team, UNC Asheville women's cross country has now finished in the top-6 every year since 2012. The Bulldogs finished third in 2013, and Asheville has finished fourth as a team in two of the last three years (2015 and 2017).
