Sean Dixon Promoted to Associate Head Coach

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball head coach Nick McDevitt has announced the promotion of Sean Dixon to Associate Head Coach.

"Sean has been very involved with every aspect of our program since his arrival in Asheville four years ago and he has played a big role in our successes," McDevitt said. "He's a tireless recruiter and very gifted at on-court player development. Sean is a talented coach and very deserving of this promotion."

Dixon enters his fifth season with the UNC Asheville basketball program and first as Associate Head Coach in the 2017-2018 season. He specializes in guard development and is the program's recruiting coordinator.

Dixon has helped the program to back-to-back 20-win seasons. During the 2016-17 campaign the Bulldogs captured their sixth Big South Conference regular season title and earned a postseason appearance to the CollegeInsider.com tournament. Macio Teague and Ahmad Thomas were also Big South first-team All-Conference selections.

The Bulldogs were Big South Tournament champions in 2015-16 and were a 15-seed in the South Region of the NCAA tournament. They went on to lose in the first round to the eventual national champions in the Villanova Wildcats.

In all, Dixon has helped coach seven All-Conference performers and been a part of 77 wins while at UNC Asheville.

Prior to UNC Asheville, Dixon enjoyed a successful playing and coaching career at Big South foe, Presbyterian College. He was a part of the program's biggest victory on Nov. 19, 2011 when they beat the 20th-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats.

During his playing days, Dixon was a four-year letterwinner. A two-time team captain, he helped the Blue Hose to back-to-back 20-win seasons. He was a two-time first-team All-Conference selection. Dixon also earned second-team All-Conference accolades during the 2004-05 campaign. He scored 1,106 career points at PC.

Dixon graduated from Presbyterian College with a bachelor's degree in Business Management in 2007. Married to the former Tara Westendorf, the couple welcomed a daughter, Kinsley Grace, on Feb. 27, 2017.

UNC Asheville will start the 2017-18 season having collected back-to-back 20-win seasons and having made two straight postseason appearances with the Bulldogs playing in the 2016 NCAA Tournament and the 2017 CollegeInsider.com Tournament.

The 2016-17 Bulldogs claimed a share of the Big South regular season championship and earned the second-most wins in program history in a season with 23. Asheville reached 20 wins faster than any other team in program history in 27 games.

Season tickets are only $250 for adult reserved seats with youth season tickets in reserved seats just $75. General admission adult season tickets are only $125 with youth season tickets in general admission also just $75.

New this year, fans can also receive one free youth season ticket with the purchase of one adult season ticket.

In addition, UNC Asheville All-Sport Passes are still available. The All-Sport Pass gives fans the chance to attend Bulldog men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball and baseball for one low price.

The All-Sport reserved seat pass for basketball is just $300 for adults with the price $150 for youth. The general admission All-Sport pass is just $175 for adults and $125 for youth.
